About Bay to Lake:
What is this?
Bay to Lake is an annual not-for-profit 60 mile (100km) relay race in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tell your friends!
When is it?
A Saturday in middle September, starting early, usually ending around 4pm, with optional bbq and overnight afterwards
How much does it cost?
$40-50
How many per team?
Maximum 8 runners, and optionally 2 support staff per team (10 maximum)
What distance do I run?
Most athletes run between 10-13 miles (16-20km) over the course of the day. But there is not maximum or minimum per runner.
What are the rules?
- Be safe and aware of your surroundings at all times
- Follow the provided route to the best of your ability
- Be excellent to each other
How does this sort of race work?
Before the race
- Sign Up then join a team or create a team.
- Join your team's groupchat and the main bay to lake chat
During the race
- Send off your first runner from the starting point.
- The rest of the team will drive to the first checkpoint.
- Once the runner reaches the first checkpoint, you will send off the next runner.
- You continue to leapfrog like this until the finish line.
After the race
- We have a party and barbecue
- You can stay overnight at the campsite (optional) or drive back home
